November 27, 2017 – Patrick Brown and the Ontario PC Party held their policy conference on Saturday, November 25th, releasing The People’s Guarantee – a policy roadmap leading to the June 2018 election. The People’s Guarantee was developed following an online policy resolution and voting process, where several topics were considered.
The Organization of Canadian Nuclear Industries (OCNI) commends Patrick Brown and the Ontario PCs as The People’s Guarantee outlines a commitment for continued support for nuclear refurbishment and continued operations at Pickering Nuclear Generation Station to 2024.
“OCNI looks forward to supporting the continued operations of Pickering Nuclear Generating Station to 2024 as it continues to demonstrate this robust CANDU technology as a reliable and cost-effective producer of clean energy for a low carbon economy,” said OCNI President and CEO, Ron Oberth. “Pickering will continue to support the Province’s economy while providing good jobs for new engineering, science and skilled trades graduates.”
With the refurbishment of ten units at Darlington and Bruce, and the continued operations of Pickering, clean energy from nuclear power will continue to play a major role in Ontario’s future economic and environmental success.
The Organization of Canadian Nuclear Industries (OCNI) is an association of more than 200 Canadian suppliers to the nuclear industry that employ more than 12,000 highly skilled and specialized engineers, technologists, and trades people. OCNI companies design reactors, manufacture major equipment and components, and provide engineering services and support to CANDU nuclear power plants in Canada as well as to CANDU and Light Water Reactor (LWR) plants in offshore markets.
