Congratulations to OPG Pickering on the recent announcement to extend the life of Pickering station beyond 2020

Continued operations of Pickering Nuclear will save Ontarians over $600 million dollars and will provide 14% of Ontario’s power which is enough to supply a city of 1.5 million people. “Over 240 OCNI companies look forward to supporting the continued operations of Pickering NGS as it continues to demonstrate this robust CANDU technology as a reliable and cost effective producer of clean energy for a low carbon economy,” added OCNI President and CEO, Ron Oberth

Pickering Nuclear Generating Station (PNGS) is one of Ontario’s key sources of nuclear energy, currently generating 3100 megawatts of electricity for the province. As such, the member companies of OCNI play a vital role in our community by creating thousands of skilled-jobs, providing significant economic benefits to our local and provincial economies.

The Organization of Canadian Nuclear Industries (OCNI) is an association of more than 200 Canadian suppliers to the nuclear industry that employ more than 12,000 highly skilled and specialized engineers, technologists, and trades people. OCNI companies design reactors, manufacture major equipment and components, and provide engineering services and support to CANDU nuclear power plants in Canada as well as to CANDU and Light Water Reactor (LWR) plants in offshore markets.
