SNC Lavalin To Set Up Shop in Port Elgin
SNC Lavalin has landed some office space in Port Elgin as it prepares to join Bruce Power's regional economy.
The new office will open in the fall, and it will be home to about a dozen key SNC Lavalin employees, including engineering and project management professionals.
The company has been a major partner of Bruce Power for decades, and Chief Nuclear Officer and Executive Vice President Preston Swafford says they are excited to increase their presence in Bruce County and to work on one of Canada's largest clean-energy projects.
Last October (2016), Bruce Power and SNC-Lavalin signed a framework agreement of up to $400 million that will create jobs and bring major long-term economic benefits to the province as Bruce Power advances its multi-year investment program.
That agreement names SNC Lavalin's nuclear team as an important resource for Bruce Power's Life-Extension Program.
Swafford says a local presence will help support this agreement and see more of the economic benefits happen locally.
Mike Rencheck, Bruce Power's President and CEO says with this addition, the company will continue to build the foundation to achieve their vision of a nuclear energy economic hub.
SNC Lavalin will be located in the South Gate Plaza at 5102 Highway 21.
