The Organization of Canadian Nuclear Industries establishes the Martyn Wash Memorial Scholarships for Nuclear Engineering Students at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology

May 17, 2018 Pickering, Ontario. – The Organization of Canadian Nuclear Industries (OCNI) is pleased to announce the creation of the Martyn Wash Memorial Scholarships for 2nd, 3rd and 4th year nuclear engineering students at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT). The Scholarships will be awarded annually beginning in the 2018/19 academic year to two students in the Faculty of Energy Systems and Nuclear Science (FESNS) based on their academic performance.

CNL Opens National Innovation Centre for Cybersecurity

Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL), Canada’s premier nuclear science and technology organization, is pleased to announce that it has cut the ribbon on its National Innovation Centre for Cybersecurity at Knowledge Park in Fredericton, NB, officially opening the doors on a brand new, multi-million dollar research facility that represents a major addition to Canada’s national cyber security capabilities. A number of local dignitaries and elected officials joined the Honourable Brian Gallant, Premier of New Brunswick, to celebrate the new centre, which joins a growing list of facilities and investments that are transforming the province into a cyber security research and innovation hub.

L3 MAPPS to Expand Tihange 1 Simulator for Long Term Operation

L3 MAPPS announced today that it has won a contract from ENGIE Electrabel to upgrade the Tihange Unit 1 full scope operator training simulator. The original simulator, developed by L3 MAPPS in cooperation with Tractebel ENGIE, was declared Ready For Training on March 4, 2016. The expansion project involves several modifications, and the upgraded simulator is expected to be in service in the second quarter of 2019.

Macfab showcases satellite components at 4S Symposium

Macfab Manufacturing, an international supplier of precision components and sub-assemblies, will be exhibiting at the 4S Symposium, May 28 – June 1, in Sorrento, Italy. The 4S (Small Satellites, Systems and Services) Symposium is jointly organized with the ESA (European Space Agency) and CNES (French Space Agency). This year’s event is being held in cooperation with two other major small sat conferences: the Small Satellites Conference (AIAA/USU) and the Symposium on Small Satellites for Earth Observation (IAA/DLR).
