OCI announces new Board of Directors at its recent Annual General Meeting

November 18, 2015, Pickering, Ontario – The Organization of Canadian Nuclear Industries (OCI), held its Annual General Meeting and Annual Conference on November 18th at the Ajax Convention Centre.

The Theme of the Annual Conference was “SMR Development and Deployment”. OCI member companies heard from SMR proponents, a nuclear regulator, and four leading SMR developers about the status of several SMR technologies and the increasing opportunities for this innovative technology in Canada’s electricity and resource recovery sectors.

Mark Lesinski, President and CEO of Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL) was the keynote dinner speaker and shared a “New Vision for CNL” under its new private sector leadership.

Eight directors were elected to the 13-member Board by the OCI membership with five directors entering their second year of two-year terms. Following is the 2015-16 OCI Board of Directors:

Nuclearelectrica clear to start Cernavoda 1 upgrade

Societatea Nationala Nuclearelectrica SA has received shareholder approval to start upgrading unit 1 of the Cernavoda nuclear power plant, a 650 MWe Candu 6 reactor on which construction started in 1982. An extraordinary general meeting of the Romanian company's shareholders, of which the main one is the Romanian Ministry of Energy, Small and Medium Enterprises, and Business Environment, approved the plan on 28 September.
